Your halo is on fire

Because I was royally pissed a few days ago since I couldn’t get my iPhone to be properly jailbroken, I’ve decided to post  how I somehow managed to get it right to help others!:)

First, I have an iPhone 3GS with a baseband of 06.15.00 (this is the same baseband with an iPad), and I am using a sim card that’s different from the original carrier. For example in the Philippines, I use a SUN simcard, not Globe, the official carrier. So what I wanted was to jailbreak my phone but still be able to use my sim card. (My phone was already able to use SUN prior to my attempt to jailbreak it). And NO, I do NOT know how to jailbreak anything else, so do not ask me if I know how to jailbreak an iPhone 4 or other basebands.

Note: There might be other easier ways to jailbreak, but this was how I did it.

• I jailbroke my phone using the tethered version of redsn0w because the untethered was yet to be released at that time. If you do not know how to jailbreak your phone, you can watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCwt4FO1qqs 
• IF you jailbreak it with the tethered version, then download and install Rocky Racoon on Cydia so that it becomes “untethered.” Otherwise if you used the untethered version, then I think there’s no need to do this anymore.
• So now your problem is, why isn’t there a signal on your phone? It only shows “No Service” on the spot where your carrier name and signal bars are supposed to be. The next step is to go back to Cydia and add these repos:

1. http://repo.iparelhos.com/
2. http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/

• From the first repo, download ultrasn0w fixer for 5.1.1, and from the 2nd repo, download ultrasn0w. Your device might reboot after this, but after that, you’re done!:) Congratulations on your newly jailbroken iPhone!:)

Halfway around the world summer’s just starting and people I follow from there are posting tons of pics of the beach and other vacation-y, summery things! Meanwhile I, who live in the Philippines and is going to a trimestral university, is already on my 2nd week of the new term and is close to having a heat stroke! Thank God for airconditioned classrooms, but what happens outside those rooms  feels like Satan decided to visit earth indefinitely. Baah, sometimes I wish the weather here wasn’t so… tropic.:’|

Oh and before I forget to complain this, I only had 5 days of summer vacation!!D: Oooooh I hate this school’s system!

And lastly, I would like to welcome all the new freshmen! Hello froshies!  You wouldn’t understand for now why upperclassmen find you guys annoying, but you will when you become upperclassmen too! I am going to update my iDevices tp 5.1.1 because there’s already a jailbreak! Hurrah! So the first thing I wanted to do was to save the SHSH. So I heard that Cydia automatically saves your device’s SHSH everytime you go to the Homepage. But for the life of me, my iPad’s SHSH is not appearing at the top part of Cydia! (My iPad’s OS is 5.0.1) Meanwhile I have no SHSH problems with my iPhone (iOS 4.3.3)… but I’m still not entirely sure how to upgrade it because my iPhone’s firmware is 06.15.00 so I still need to double check how to jailbreak it.:| 

Any help for an iOS idiot like me? I really need help especially on the SHSH!
